We’re happy to announce that we now support the ability to deploy applications using various versions of Ruby and Python.  Our ability to support these new features is thanks to the recent introduction of mod_passenger support on Litespeed.  Of course with Litespeed it always includes numerous performance improvements over other implementations so that your application can be just that much faster.

We currently support the following versions of Ruby and Python on all shared, reseller, and semi-dedicated hosting plans:

Ruby

Python

To deploy an application it’s as simple as logging into your cPanel and under the Software section utilizing the new “Setup Python App or “Setup Ruby App” options

Setting up a Python Application

To setup a Python application you’ll select the “Setup Python App” option and from here you will be asked what version of Python you’re utilizing, where you want your application to reside and the URI of your application.

Once you have your Python application setup it’s added to your list of currently installed applications

You can modify the URI of your application, the folder it resides in and of course even install additional modules such as the popular Django web framework

After which you click update to install any new modules you added and they should then appear and be available for your application

It’s that easy to get up and running with a Python application now on our web hosting.  No tinkering with .htaccess files or anything just get right into what you’re either developing or deploying.

Setting up a Ruby Application

All of our shared, reseller, and semi-dedicated hosting plans have this new feature available immediately.  No longer is there a need to have a complicated virtual private server setup with your Ruby on Rails application or Python application.  You can do it all with us and not have to worry about managing a server.
